When Advance Auto Parts acquired CARQUEST in 2013 they became the largest retailer of automotive replacement parts in the United States.

Infrastructure Optimization

As the Advance Auto Parts IT team began analyzing the CARQUEST data center they inherited, they realized the technology had not been managed or maintained for two years. Upgrades had been neglected, assets were never migrated or decommissioned and equipment was running at less than optimal performance levels.

Project Plan

The VSS Sales and Delivery Services teams worked with the Director of IT and Manager of Infrastructure to determine the best course of action to get the CQ data center running optimally and integrated with the existing AAP data center.

Services + Solutions

VSS provided Advance Auto Parts with a cost-effective and scalable computer environment that allows IT to respond quickly to business projects and requirements. By consolidating workloads onto IBM Power Systems, AAP gained the ability to use their IBM Power Systems for other workloads.

Benefits & Results

By starting with a discovery session, performance review and cost analysis, VSS was able to provide Advance Auto Parts with a significant cost savings of $145,000 on maintenance and $445,000 on leased assets.
